Leicester Paul Beaufort
Leicester Paul Beaufort , (* 1853 in Warburton ; † 1926 ), was a British barrister and colonial governor of North Borneo .
biography
Beaufort was the son of Daniel Augustus Beaufort and his wife Emily Newel, née Davis. His paternal grandfather was Rear Admiral Sir Francis Beaufort . During his tenure as governor of North Borneo, the administration of Labuan fell under the jurisdiction of the governor of North Borneo. Beaufort officiated from January 1909 to May 16, 1911 in Fort Jameson as administrator of Northwest Rhodesia ( Barotseland ).
The city of Beaufort in the Malaysian state of Sabah is named after Leicester Paul Beaufort.
