The Guinea-Bissau Athletics Federation participated in the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha . One athlete was nominated by the Guinea-Bissau Federation.
Jonathan Busby from Aruba , who was contesting an official 5000 m race for the first time, suffered a faint attack half a lap before the finish line. Guinea-Bissau's starter Braima Suncar Dabó then broke off his run to help Busby to the finish. This display of special sportsmanship was recognized internationally in the press.
