Complete medal table

The 8th IPC Athletics World Championships ( English World Para Athletics Championships ) found from 14 to 23 July 2017 in the British capital London instead. The competitions were held in the local Olympic Stadium in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park .

1056 athletes from 90 nations competed in 202 medal decisions.

The Greater London Authority (GLA) should guarantee the funding.

Candidate cities

As part of the 2012 Paralympic Summer Games , there was talk of London as the venue for the World Championships in Athletics for the disabled in 2017. The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) confirmed in mid-October 2012 that London is the only official candidate city and that they are close to an agreement with the UK Athletics Federation and London City Hall .

Originally the British wanted to apply with Birmingham and the Alexander Stadium , but due to the enormous success with the sold-out Olympic Stadium in London at the Summer Paralympics, the Mayor of London Boris Johnson also supported an application from the capital.

On December 19, 2012, London was announced as the venue for the 2017 Para World Cup and the Greater London Authority was to act as the organizer in collaboration with a number of institutions.

Participating Nations

90 nations with 1056 athletes took part. Since the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) was found guilty of state doping by the IPC in August 2016 , Russia was excluded from participation.
