Leiding (Heining-lès-Bouzonville)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Leiding is a district of the French commune of Heining-lès-Bouzonville in the Moselle department of the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It is located directly on the German border on the Saargau plateau . On the German side is Leidingen , a district of the Saarland community Wallerfangen . Both formed a common church for many years.

The German-French border runs through the town in the middle of a 1.6 kilometer long road. On the German side, this is called Neutral Street , on the French Rue de la Frontiére . The French side has 28 inhabitants, the German side 192 inhabitants. Only since the 2010s have there been increased efforts by both places to work together on drinking and wastewater supply and road construction. For this, among other things, EU funds had to be applied for and bureaucratic hurdles had to be overcome.
