Leinøya is one of the Sørøyane ("South Islands") in Sunnmøre ( Møre og Romsdal ). The archipelago is located southwest of Ålesund and belongs to Norway.
Leinøya belongs to the Herøy municipality . The villages of Frøystad, Leine, Bø and Torvik are on the island . Torvik is the port of the Hurtigruten . The island is connected to the neighboring islands of Gurskøya , Bergsøya , Remøya , Runde and Nerlandsøya with bridges. The highest point on the island is the 364 m high Leinehornet mountain. The island has an area of 14.4 km². In 2001 Leinøya had 1399 inhabitants.
