The Leiner Berg is part of the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm , which was established in the second half of the 18th century under the reign of Prince Leopold III. Friedrich Franz von Anhalt-Dessau (* 1740 ; † 1817 ) was created. Today it belongs to the district of Vockerode in the city of Oranienbaum-Wörlitz .

The building, also known as the Schweizerhaus , was built in 1830 about 3 km east of the Mulde and about 2 km north of the village of Nauendorf (now the Waldersee district of the city of Dessau ) and was originally used as a forester's house.

history

The name Leiner Berg (Glyner Berg) as well as the Leiner See are derived from a desert village or from a ministerial castle Glin (Lords of Glyn 1237-1335). Traces of this original settlement were found as early as 1900 during forest work.

A richly structured forest and meadow landscape with centuries-old solitary willows and oaks and many hiking trails stretches north and east of the Leiner See and Löbbens, which used to be a popular excursion and swimming destination and is now only a swamp area. The best known of these are the " Elberadweg " and the "Fürst Franz" hiking trail to Vockerode and Wörlitz, which runs parallel in this section .
