Linen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Leinfe (also Leiffe ) is a submerged settlement in the area of today's city of Battenberg (Eder) in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district in Hesse .

location

The place was halfway between Elsoff and Dodenau in a side valley below the Leiferscheid mountain ( 478  m above sea level ). The field name "in der Leife" still reminds of the former settlement.

history

From the ending -fa one concludes that the place was one of the oldest settlements in the region. The place Leinepha was first mentioned in a document in 1059. It belonged to the parish of Elsoff under canon law, and the local landlord Buobo von Elsoff carried out the separation of the parish of Elsoff from the previous mother church in Raumland . In order to be able to hold mass , baptism and intercession for the dead in Elsoff , he transferred part of his land to the church in Raumland. The localities Schwarzenau , Beddelhausen , Elsoff and Alertshausen appear in the corresponding document . The now desolate places Gospershausen , Oberruhn and Breitendelle are also mentioned.
