Leipzig School of Media

The Leipzig School of Media (LSoM) trains media professionals, journalists, IT professionals, editors and marketing people in part-time master’s courses and part-time courses.

history

In 2004, the part-time training program with an internationally recognized master’s degree began as the Leipzig Media Master’s (MML) program. The program was a cooperation project between the University of Leipzig , the University of Technology, Business and Culture (HTWK) Leipzig and the Media Foundation of the Sparkasse Leipzig . In 2006 the new " Mediencampus " building in the Leipzig district of Gohlis was completed. The Media Foundation of the Sparkasse Leipzig founded the Leipzig School of Media in 2008 as a non-profit GmbH . Since then, the Leipzig School of Media has offered in-service training, courses and training in cooperation with various institutions such as the VDZ Academy . Michael Geffken is the managing director and rector .

  • Series of seminars: The LSoM offers series of courses at regular intervals in cooperation with the VDZ Academy on specific topics such as the "Expert of Crossmedia Publishing" certificate course series.
  • In-house seminars for companies: LSoM offers in-house seminars for companies and organizations on various topics, for example on "Web 2.0 and Social Media" or "Digital Marketing"

Premises

The Leipzig School of Media is located at the Mediencampus Leipzig. The inner courtyard is bordered on the east by the late Classicist Villa Ida, built in 1883. The other ensemble consists of the conference and training building, the apartment house with bistro and a glass hall for events and congresses. A modern sound studio and TV recording facilities as well as a PC pool are available in the conference building. The Association of German Architects (BDA) Saxony has awarded the media campus recognition for the 2007 Architecture Prize of the BDA Saxony.

E-learning

With the Online Campus, the Leipzig School of Media provides its students with an e-learning offering. In addition to seminar slides, literature, self-assessment tests, interactive learning modules, lecture recordings, and audio and video files have been offered since 2009. The e-learning offer supports in-service training outside of the attendance phases. The Leipzig School of Media currently uses the ILIAS system for this .
