The Leitnerbach arises in the northwest of the municipality Bärnbach , in the central part of the cadastral municipality Piberegg , west of the Leitenhube farm and northwest of the Steiner farm. It flows in a flat curve to the right to the northeast. Directly on the border of the cadastral communities Kohlschwarz and Piberegg, it flows northeast of the Leitenhube farm into the Freisingbach , which turns left shortly afterwards.

On its course, the Leitnerbach takes on an unnamed watercourse from both the left and right.
