The Lemecke is a 1.8 km long orographically left tributary of the Ruhr in Winterberg , North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

geography

The stream rises about 1.2 km north of Winterberg city center at an altitude of 671  m above sea level. NHN . From here the Lemecke flows mainly in northerly directions. After a river stretch of 1.8 km, it flows into the still young Ruhr on the left . The mouth is north of the stallion head immediately west of the federal highway 480 at an altitude of 619  m above sea level. NHN .

With a height difference of 52 m, the mean bed slope is 28.9 ‰. The approximately 1,145 km² catchment area is drained to the North Sea via the Ruhr and Rhine.

nature and environment

The course of the Lemecke is completely unobstructed. The northern half of the Lemecke creek lies in the 55.2 hectare nature reserve Oberes Ruhrtal . The nature reserve is also part of the FFH area Bergwiesen bei Winterberg , which contains many rare plants and animals on the Red List . The North Rhine-Westphalia Foundation has purchased land in the nature reserve in the area of ​​the course of the Lemecke at the request of the Association for Nature and Bird Protection in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The areas of the North Rhine-Westphalia Foundation are extensively grazed with cattle in accordance with the specifications of the culture-landscape-care program of the Hochsauerlandkreis.

There used to be in the area of Lemecke run instances of the Whinchat , the Meadow Pipit and Common Snipe .
