Lemvig-Thyborøn Håndbold

Lemvig-Thyborøn Håndbold is the name for the professional handball players of No. Lem-No. Nissum Forenede Håndboldklubber (NNFH Lemvig) from the Danish Lemvig municipality . The first men's team currently plays in the first-class Håndboldligaen . The women's team won the national cup in 1984 and took part in the European Cup Winners' Cup.

history

Today's NNFH Lemvig was founded in 1969 as Nørlem / Nørre Nissum from the merger of the local handball clubs Nørre Nissum KFUM and Nørre Lem GF . The professional handball players were spun off from the main club as Lemvig Håndbold A / S in 2006 and four years later they entered into a syndicate with HK 68 from Thyborøn . The HK left the syndicate in 2013, but the NNFH continues to call itself Lemvig-Thyborøn Håndbold .

The men's team already belonged to the first-class 1st division from 1974 to 1978, the best placement was a seventh place in the 1974/75 season. After the club was restructured, it was promoted back to the Håndboldligaen in 2006 and the team developed into a classic elevator team . Between 2006 and 2015, each year you either occupied a direct promotion or relegation place or took part in the relegation games to the first division. Only between 2009/10 and 2011/12 was it possible to remain in the top class for several seasons in a row.

In the 1980s, the women's team also belonged to the first-class 1st division for several years and achieved their best position in 1987/88 with third place in the championship final (second place in the main round). After a defeat in the cup final in 1983 against Helsingør IF (14:20), a year later in their own hall with a 16:14 final win against Frederiksberg IF, the title win and thus the greatest success in the club's history. In 1984/85 they represented Denmark in the European Cup Winners' Cup and were eliminated in the round of 16 against the GDR representative SC Magdeburg .
