Lene Grenager

Lene Grenager (born October 9, 1969 ) is a Norwegian cellist and composer who is also active in the field of new improvisation music.

Life

Grenager studied cello, composition and conducting at the Norges Musikkhøgskole in Oslo with Aage Kvalbein , Olav Anton Thommessen and Alfred Janson . Together with Hild Sofie Tafjord , Kristin Andersen and Maja Ratkje , she has formed the group Spunk since 1995 , with which she released several recordings. She is also internationally active with Lemur and in a duo with Sofia Jernberg . She has also worked with Mattin , Lucio Capece , Ellen Fullman , Mats Gustafsson , Harald Fetveit , Unni Løvlid and the Trondheim Jazzorchestra. She has performed at international festivals such as Victoriaville, Ultima , Borealis , Banlieues Bleues , Stockholm New Music og Nordic Music Days and Moldejazz . In 2006 she released her solo album Slåtter, slag og slark (Euridice). In 2009 the album Affinis suite (+ 3dB Records) was released with compositions for a chamber ensemble and in 2010 another album with compositions by her, Systema Naturae with the Trio Alpaca, which was nominated for two Norwegian Grammys. As a conductor she recorded Asymmetrical Music by Eivind Buene.
