Leonard Boyd Curry (born July 19, 1970 in Key West , Florida ) is an American politician ( Republican Party ). He has been Mayor of Jacksonville since July 1, 2015 . From September 23, 2011 to May 31, 2014, Lenny Curry was chairman of the Florida Republican Party.

Life

Lenny Curry grew up in Key West and Middleburg , where he graduated from Middleburg High School . He studied finance and accounting at St. Johns River Community College and the University of Florida , where he received his bachelor's degree. From 1994 to 2002 Curry worked as an auditor . He then went into business for himself as a business consultant. Lenny Curry has been married since 2005 and has three children.

On June 3, 2014, Lenny Curry submitted his application for mayor in Jacksonville. Among other things, he competed against incumbent Alvin Brown . In the first round of voting on March 24, 2015, Curry received 38.4 percent of the vote, trailing Brown, who received 42.6 percent of the vote. In the runoff election on May 19, 2015, Curry finally prevailed with 51.31 percent of the vote against Brown. On July 1, 2015, he replaced Brown. In the election on March 19, 2019, Curry was confirmed in office.
