Leo Johnen

Leo Johnen (born April 5, 1901 in Essen , † August 17, 1989 in Düsseldorf ) was a German politician ( GB / BHE ) and a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

After primary school and attending secondary school in Recklinghausen , Leo Johen worked as a mining and mechanical engineering intern in the Ruhr area and in Krefeld from 1919 to 1922 . In 1920 he did voluntary military service . From 1923 to 1924 he worked initially as an employee of the Krefeld Crafts Office, from 1925 in the food and canning industry as an independent businessman and sales representative. From 1940 until 1943 he was drafted into the military. It was bombed in Krefeld in 1943 and 1944 by air raids. From 1944 to 1945 he served as a soldier. He was taken prisoner of war from which he was released in 1945 to Eixe , Peine district . As a result, from 1948 onwards he became politically active for the displaced and those injured by airplanes. In 1952 he became a member of the local council and district council, and from 1952 to 1954 mayor. From May 6, 1955 to May 5, 1959, Leo Johnen was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament (3rd electoral period).
