Leo Lemešić
Leo Lemešić (born June 8, 1908 in Sinj , † August 15, 1978 in Split ) was a Yugoslav football coach and player on the position of a striker , who later also worked as a referee .
career
Lemešić played throughout his career for his hometown club Hajduk Split , with whom he won the first two championship titles in the club's history in 1927 and 1929 . With a total of 455 goals that he scored for his club, he is the second most successful goalscorer in the club's history behind top scorer Frane Matošić , who scored a total of 729 goals for Hajduk. In addition, Lemešić played five international matches for Yugoslavia between 1929 and 1932 , in which he scored three goals.
After his active playing career, he worked as Hajduk 's coach in 1944 and 1945 and in the 1961/62 season . He also worked for many years as a referee, who was used, among other things, at the soccer world championships in 1950 (as linesman) and 1958 (as main referee ).
