Leo Schuster

Leo Schuster (born July 8, 1937 in Fürth ) is a German economist.

Life

Schuster studied economics at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg , Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and the University of Vienna . In Erlangen-Nuremberg, he was in 1966 with the work of central bank policy and banking supervision in the EC countries to Dr. rer. pole. PhD .

In 1971, Schuster became director of the Institute for Banking at the Swiss University of St. Gallen . In 1975 he completed his habilitation at the University of St. Gallen with the book Power and Moral of Banks. In 1990 he changed to the chair for general business administration, finance and banking at the newly founded Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt . He was Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics there from 1991 to 1993. In 2000 he retired .

Among other things, Schuster worked as a consultant for Commerzbank AG at the United Nations in New York. He is also a member of the administrative and supervisory boards of banks and insurance companies (including Nürnberger Versicherung ) as well as banking committees in Switzerland and Germany.

Act

The focus of research is on socially-oriented and responsible banking management as well as international and intercultural references to bank management. Schuster is an advocate of Catholic social teaching .

Schuster published numerous books and over 250 articles. He is co-editor of various magazines.

In 2003 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon by the Bavarian State Minister for Science, Research and Art, Hans Zehetmair , for his commitment to teaching and science.
