Leon Osman (born May 17, 1981 in Billinge ) is a former English football player .

Career

The midfielder began his football career in the youth of Everton FC . In 1998 he won the FA Youth Cup with the Everton FC youth team . Osman suffered a serious knee injury and was out for the next season. In October 2002 he was awarded to Carlisle United and won the Player of the Month trophy there. He returned to Everton in January 2003 and contributed a hat trick to the reserve team's 4-1 win over Manchester United's reserve team . In 2004 he was awarded again because he could not play in the first team, this time to Derby County . Upon his return, Osman made his debut for Everton against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the age of 23 and scored after just three minutes. In the 4-1 win over Fulham on December 14, 2013, Leon Osman scored his 40th Premier League goal in the 300th league game.

Everton manager David Moyes brought Osman up for discussion after his impressive start to the 2006/07 season for the English national football team .

Osman's father is from Northern Cyprus .
