Leon Ernest "Schuks" Schuster (born May 21, 1951 in Vereeniging , South Africa ) is a South African filmmaker, comedian , actor , presenter and singer who lives in Johannesburg .

Life

Schuster felt drawn to filmmaking at a young age. He and his brother played pranks on the family and filmed them with an old home video camera .

Schuster studied and completed his BA at the University of the Orange Free State . Then he spent two years teaching at a high school in Bloemfontein .

Career

Schuster started working for the South African Broadcasting Corporation in 1975. During his time at SABC, Leon Schuster created the radio series on Afrikaans Vrypostige Microfoon with Fanus Rautenbach, in which he disguised his voice and made fun of the unsuspecting victims.

In 1982, Schuster was encouraged by Decibel Records to record some sports songs. His first record, Leon Schuster, sold 100,000 times. He sold his second album Broekskeur 40,000 times, followed by Briekdans and Leon Schuster - 20 hits , which was sold over 270,000 times.

His hit CD Hier Kom Die Bokke won the FNB Sama Music Award as the best-selling CD in 1995. The next CD, Gatvol in Paradise , was bought more than 125,000 times and made the unofficial Gauteng anthem, Gautengeling, popular.

Movie

Schuster's first film You Must Be Joking! , which he produced in collaboration with Johan Scholtz and Elmo de Witt , was very popular with the South African audience, so he made a sequel called You Must be Joking! Too entailed .

These films were hidden-camera skits . Schuster made many more of these films as well as slapstick films , the most notable of which was Mr. Bones , which was also shown in cinemas internationally, including in Germany. The film became the most successful of all Schuster films and grossed more than 33 million rand at the South African box office .
