Reviews

“Domestic cinema productions are a rarity in South Africa. [...] The fact that own films are in great demand is shown by the box office hit "Mr. Bones", which grossed over 33 million rand (approx. 4.1 million euros) and made blockbusters such as B. "Titanic" outstripped. The main person responsible for this success is Leon Schuster, a comedian who is about as popular in his home country as Otto is here in this country. [...] His recipe: sex and fecal puns that hang along the belt line by a hair-cut margin. After all, the location, the luxurious golf and player paradise of Sun City, exudes an exotic charm. Behind it, however, the meager story fades [...] The lively message from "Mr. Bones" at least proves that the South African laughs at the same foolishness as the German. "

"Over-the-top, lack of ideas and crude slapstick comedy with some socially critical swipes."

"" Mr. Bones "is Leon Schuster's baby. [...] Ten years after "Yankee Zulu", the first successful shoemaker, was also exported to Europe, the main actor and his director Gray Hofmeyr are making a new attempt: with a larger budget and speed, but with the usual accentuation of slapstick and chaos comedy. Fish out of water, a sense of humor resulting from confrontation with an unfamiliar environment, is the recipe here that, after the Rand, should now also bring the euro into the coffers. [...] A bit of romance and criminal threat complete the story of this comedy, which in times when witty puns and character comics are rarely offered and then often not appropriately accepted by the audience, it definitely has its chances on the market. "
