Leonhard Baumert (* 1944 in Hennersdorf , Silesia ) is a German politician from the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD).

Life

Baumert passed his Abitur in 1966 and then did his military service. From 1967 he began studying at the University of Hamburg . He studied sport and social studies and finished his studies in 1973 with the state examination for higher teaching qualifications. From 1975 to 2010 he worked in school, most recently he taught subjects, social studies , law , history and sports at the Farmsen grammar school . Baumert has been retired since July 2010. However, he continues to teach law in upper school at the Farmsen High School.

Baumert has been a member of the SPD since 1972. He sat in the Hamburg parliament in the 15th electoral term from 1993 to 1997. There he sat for his parliamentary group in the school committee and health committee. In 1986/87 he was also a deputy in the authority for science and research . For the election of Hamburg's citizenship in 2011 , he ran on the SPD state list in 51st place.

In addition to his parliamentary engagement, he is a member of the education and science trade union (GEW) and the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB). He also works as a youth lay judge at the Hamburg Youth Court .

Baumert is married and has two children.
