Leonhard Lochner
Leonhard Lochner (* 1914 in Röttingen , Bavaria , as Anton Lochner ; † May 7, 2007 in Bad Neustadt an der Saale ) was a German religious priest ( Ordo Sancti Augustini OSA ) and librarian of the Münnerstadt monastery library .
Life
After graduating from high school and his novitiate in the Augustinian monastery of St. Michael in Münnerstadt , Lochner studied Catholic theology at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . He was ordained a priest on March 12, 1939 and took up pastoral work for the Order in New York , Racine, Wisconsin, and Kenosh, Wisconsin .
From 1950 he taught at the seminary in Milwaukee , Wisconsin , from 1956 to 1959 in Monastery. There he was also installed as a prior . After working as a procurator in New York from 1959 to 1961, he returned to Milwaukee. In 1964 he worked for the Augustinian Rita factory in Lucerne and Friborg , and from 1982 to 1983 he was procurator at St. Gregor's monastery in Fährbrück . In 1982 he became pastor of Gramschatz , and from 1985 to 1995 of Fuchsmühl .
From 1995 Leonhard Lochner lived in the Münnerstadt monastery . He was mainly involved in the reorganization of ecclesiastical and secular literature, comprising around 70,000 volumes. The Münnerstadt monastery library has one of the largest collections of works of Christian content in German , Latin and Greek in the world.
