Florica Leonida

Floarea "Florica" ​​Leonida (born January 13, 1987 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian gymnast .

She started gymnastics at CSȘ Bucharest at the age of three. Later she did gymnastics at Steaua Bucharest . In 2002 Leonida won four medals at the Junior European Championships. She became European champion on the balance beam and won silver in the all-around competition, on the ground and with the team.

Her greatest success came at the 2003 World Gymnastics Championships . In Anaheim (USA) Leonida won the silver medal behind the USA with the Romanian gymnastics team with Oana Ban , Alexandra Eremia , Andreea Munteanu , Cătălina Ponor and Monica Roşu . At the 2005 World Gymnastics Championships in Melbourne, she reached sixth place in the all-around competition.

At the European Gymnastics Championships 2006 in Volos (Greece) Leonida won silver with the Romanian team with Sandra Izbaşa , Steliana Nistor , Cătălina Ponor and Alina Stănculescu behind Italy.

Leonida was part of the roster for the 2008 Olympic Games, but was not used. In the same year she resigned.
