Leonie Fiebich (born January 10, 2000 in Landsberg am Lech ) is a German basketball player .
career
Fiebich's hometown club is the DJK Landsberg, at the age of 14 she played for Landsberg's women in addition to her assignments in the youth field. As a teenager, the winger, who came from a basketball family, moved to TS Jahn Munich and became a regular in the 2nd Bundesliga. In June 2017 she tore a cruciate ligament in the semi-finals of the female youth basketball league . In the 2017/18 season she was the second-best scorer in the second division in the second division with an average of 16.2 points per match, and her 7.4 rebounds per game were also the second-best value within the squad. She was runner-up in the 2nd Bundesliga South with Munich.
In August 2018, Fiebich was signed by Bundesliga club TSV 1880 Wasserburg . She was named the best Bundesliga newcomer of the 2018/19 season. Due to a torn cruciate ligament (already the second of her career), she only played in one league in the 2019/20 season. In the draft proceedings of the US league WNBA in April 2020, the Los Angeles Sparks secured the rights to Fiebich. She was called up as a total of 22nd player.
National team
In 2015 Fiebich took part in the European Championship in Portugal with the German U16 national team, a year later she was again in the U16 EM squad and won silver with the selection, with an average of 11.9 points and 11.6 rebounds each Encounter contributed significantly to this success. In the summer of 2018 she became U18 European champion with the German team. She scored an average of 11.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game during the tournament in Italy and was elected to the "Team of the Tournament".
In October 2018, Fiebich was appointed to the German women's national team for the first time . In the summer of 2019, she took part in the U19 World Cup in Thailand, but suffered another cruciate ligament rupture in the round of 16 against the United States .
