Leopold Gressenbauer

Leopold Gressenbauer (born June 21, 1931 in Leonstein ; † October 30, 1988 in Reichraming ) was an Austrian farmer and politician ( SPÖ ). From 1967 until his death he was a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament .

Life

Leopold Gressenbauer, son of a farmer, learned the profession of cooper after attending compulsory schools, which he also practiced before he became a farmer himself. He had been married since 1957 and had three daughters with his wife Josefa. From 1961 Gressenbauer worked in the agricultural social insurance system.

Gressenbauer was a passionate hunter and president of the Steyrtal-Leonstein hunting club. He had an accident in 1988 in the Reichraminger Hintergebirge during a hunting trip near the “Wilder Graben”.

Political activity

In 1956, Gressenbauer, whose father was already politically active as mayor of the municipality of Grünburg , joined the SPÖ and the workers 'farmers' association. He became a member of the district executive committee of Kirchdorf as well as regional chairman and deputy federal chairman of the workers 'farmers' union. In 1961 he was elected deputy mayor of the community of Grünburg. From 1967 to 1988 Gressenbauer was a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag, where he was a member of the committees for economic affairs, constitution and administration as well as the immunity and incompatibility committee. Also from 1967 he was councilor in the Chamber of Agriculture of Upper Austria. In addition, Gressenbauer was deputy chairman of the Upper Austrian agricultural machinery fund.
