The Leopoldsteiner See is a mountain lake in Styria , about four kilometers northwest of the city of Eisenerz . It is located 628 m above sea level at the foot of the sea wall in the western Hochschwab group . The lake is 1400 meters long and 370 meters wide, its deepest point is 31 m. The Seebach flows through the lake, but it is mainly fed by underground springs.
The lake takes its name from the nearby Leopoldstein Castle .

Legend has it that an Aquarius was caught near this lake . To buy his release, he showed his catchers an iron ore deposit, the ore mountain , only a few kilometers away . Then he disappeared in the Aquarian Hole .
