biography
Leroy Gomez founded his first band at the age of 14. He also worked as a singer and saxophonist for many local groups and thus came to the disco band Tavares , with whom he toured the USA, Canada and Europe . He liked Paris so much that he settled there. In France , Gomez was a session singer and saxophonist and worked a. a. for Patrick Juvet , Gilbert Becaud , Claude François and Laurent Voulzy . He also played the saxophone on Elton John's album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road .
The first solo single Here We Go Around became a hit in France in 1975. Gomez met the producer Nicolas Skorsky by chance, with whom he wanted to gain a foothold in the disco scene. Skorsky introduced him to the musicians of Santa Esmeralda and hired him as their singer until he was replaced by Jimmy Goings in 1978. After that, Gomez concentrated again on his job as a saxophonist. He played for Jose Manuel , Jose Feliciano and others, but was also the first foreigner to take part in the “Gondola d'Oro” of the Venice Music Festival.
Today Leroy Gomez is active as a solo artist, but also a member of the newly formed Santa Esmeralda. In 2010 his single Bang Bang Baby was released .
