Les Lye
Leslie Earnest Lye (born November 18, 1924 in Toronto , Ontario , † July 21, 2009 in Ottawa , Ontario) was a Canadian actor .
Life
Lye graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts . In 1948 he moved to Ottawa and was hired there as a radio announcer. Over the next ten years, he became one of the most popular radio hosts in the country. From 1958 he worked for television, initially until 1961 as co-host of the talk show Contact .
From 1966 he led a total of 22 years with Bill Luxton on the children's show Uncle Willy & Floyd . From 1979 to 1990 he hosted 143 episodes of the children's program You Can't Do That On Television . In addition, he also served as voice actors of animated films operates, among other things in a series of The Raccoons and in two series specials from the Care Bears series.
