The Lesbian Sex Mafia (LSM) is an information and support organization for lesbian , bisexual , heterosexual and transsexual women. The group was founded in 1981 and is based in New York City , USA . As one of the oldest women's groups in BDSM , she played an important role in its history.

The organization is primarily committed to understanding erotic role play , bondage , discipline , sadomasochism, sexual fetishism , alternative gender identities and the free expression of sexuality. The Lesbian Sex Mafia adheres to the principles of confidentiality, security and consensuality (cf. SSC ) and supports the right of women to live out their sexuality according to their own ideas.

organization

LSM is a member-led and member-focused organization. Membership is open to all women over the age of 18, including intersex or transgender women as well as transsexual men who see themselves as women. In order to become a member, every interested party must go through a so-called LSM orientation and security procedure. This takes place in the form of an informal meeting, at which several members share their experiences with the interested party and also clarify the reasons for wanting to become a member with the aspirant. A security workshop then explains basic security measures in BDSM. The LSM organizes specialist demonstrations and meetings, discussion rounds and practical workshops for special sexual practices for its members. The group also sets up SM playrooms in the members' houses or rents SM studios in order to organize non-public play parties (SM events at which sadomasochistic practices are also allowed).

Even though many of the LSM meetings are open to non-members, there are some advantages for registered members. In addition to the opportunities to participate in the organization, to be involved in decisions, to get access to non-public events and merchandising products of the group, also for example general discounts in certain shops and at some discounters.

The group is financed through membership fees and receives practical support from artists from the BDSM field, such as the rigger Midori or the fetish photographer Michele Serchuk and other civil rights movements and their institutions such as the LGBT center in New York.
