Leslie Stratton (born July 9, 1992 ) is an American-Swedish skeleton pilot, softball player and former bobsleigh driver . In skeleton , she took part in the World Championships for Sweden in 2019 and in softball she took part in the European Championships for Sweden in 2015 and 2019 .

Career

Career as a softball player

In 2013 Leslie Stratton was appointed to the Swedish national softball team for the first time and was also appointed to the squad for the 2015 European Softball Championships , which were held in the Dutch city of Rosmalen between July 19 and 25, 2015. She and her team took 11th place in the final bill. While she was not in the squad at the European Softball Championship in 2017, she was appointed to the squad for the 2019 European Championships , which were held in the Czech Republic and Poland. With the Swedish team, she finally finished 15th.

Career as a bobsledder

After the European softball championship in 2015, Leslie Stratton started her softball career in another sport, namely bobsleigh. She was trained in the USA as a pusher and was able to contest her first race in the North American Bobsleigh Cup 2014/15 on November 21, 2014 as Nicole Vogt's pusher . In the race on the Olympic track in Calgary , the two finished eleventh. She achieved her best result as a bobsleigh pusher in Lake Placid as Katie Eberling's pusher , and in the race on February 6, 2015, they finished ninth together. One day later, she took part in the men's four-man bobsleigh race as Brittany Reinbolt's pusher and Reinbolt's bobsleigh took eighth and last place, which the team again took a day later in the second four-man bobsleigh race.

Career as a skeleton pilot

After the season, Leslie Stratton switched from bobsleigh to skeleton and competed in her first international skeleton race on November 12, 2015. At the race of the North American Cup in Calgary , she finished 16th on her debut. She achieved her best result for the USA in the North American Cup on March 17, 2016 in Park City and finished seventh in these races. In the 2017/18 season she started for the USA in the European Skeleton Cup and made her debut on November 11, 2017 on the track in Lillehammer , where she finished 14th. With that she also achieved her best result in the European Cup. On December 15, 2017, she achieved her best result in La Plagne .

After the 2017/18 season, Leslie Straton decided to leave the United States Bobsled and Skeleton and start for Sweden. She contested her first skeleton race for the Swedish Federation in the North American Skeleton Cup on November 7, 2018 on the Whistler track , finishing ninth. On November 19, 2018, she won a race in the North American Cup for the first time. In the Park City race, she won ahead of her former teammates Kelly Curtis and Sara Roderick . One day later she had to admit defeat to Kelly Curtis in the second race at Park City and finished in second place. On November 30, 2018, she finished on the podium again, this time in Lake Placid . Behind the two Americans Sara Roderick and Michelle Toukan , she took third place. At the end of the 2018/19 season, she finished second behind Kelly Curtis in the overall standings of the North American Cup.

In the 2018/19 season Leslie Stratton competed not only in the North American Cup , but also in the European Cup and the Skeleton Intercontinental Cup . She completed her first race for Sweden in the European Cup on December 6, 2018 in Königssee and finished 24th. One day later, she finished 22nd on the same track. She made her debut in the Intercontinental Cup on January 19, 2019 in Park City , finishing seventh and thus her best result so far in this racing series. She was able to occupy the same place in the second race in Park City, which was held on the same day. She also qualified for the 2019 Skeleton World Championship and finished 18th in her first Skeleton World Championship at the Whistler Sliding Center .

In the 2018/19 season, she worked out a quota for the 2019/20 Skeleton World Cup and made her debut in Lake Placid in the Skeleton World Cup on November 7, 2019 . She finished 18th.
