Leslie Suganandarajah (* 1983 in Colombuthurai near Jaffna ) is a Sri Lankan - German conductor .

Life

Suganandarajah grew up in Germany. From 2002 he studied piano , first in Hanover , then in Lübeck with Jacques Ammon , where he also received conducting lessons from Gerd Müller-Lorenz . In 2009, he joined the professional conducting at the Music Academy in Weimar to Gunter Kahlert and Nicolás Pasquet and conducted from 2008 to 2011, the Harvestehuder Symphony Orchestra Hamburg . In 2011 he was accepted into the Conductors' Forum of the German Music Council . For the 2014/2015 season he received the Hermann Hildebrandt Scholarship for young conductors and was assistant to Michael Sanderling at the Dresden Philharmonic .

In the 2012/2013 season, Leslie Suganandarajah took up the position of 2nd Kapellmeister at the Koblenz Theater , and from 2015 he held the position of 1st Kapellmeister. In the 2017/2018 season he moved to the Landestheater Linz as Kapellmeister .

Suganandarajah has been music director at the Salzburger Landestheater since 2019 .
