Lessing Prize for Criticism

The Lessing Prize for Criticism has been awarded every two years since 2000 by the Lessing Academy e. V. and the Braunschweig Foundation . Analogous to Lessing's critical activity, it does not only distinguish subject-specific criticism, but rather criticism in the broader sense .

The main prize is endowed with 15,000 euros. At the same time, a sponsorship prize is awarded, which is determined by the main prize winner; it is endowed with 5,000 euros.

Members of the jury are: Franziska Augstein , Peter Burschel, Cord-Friedrich Berghahn, Ulrike Sprenger, Joachim Block, Daniel Fulda. (Wilfried Barner died in 2015, the new director of the HAB, Peter Burschel, succeeds the retired director Schmidt-Glinzer in the jury, the new president of the Lessing Academy Cord-Friedrich Berghahn follows the retired former president Erich Unglaub.)
