The Helgoland Düne lighthouse was built in 1936 on the Helgoland Düne . It describes the fairway to the Helgoland roadstead and the Helgoland ports. The Tönning Waterways and Shipping Office is responsible for operation.
history
It is documented that Hamburg merchants had been running a coal bloom on the dune , which was then still connected to Heligoland, since 1663 ; another fire in the south of the dune was set up in 1656 and was called the Kapen fire.
The breakup of Heligoland and the dune destroyed both fires in 1720. Around 1762, German shipowners set up two daytime beacons on the Hog-Stan Sand and on the stone ground. A decision of the first European conference on navigation in 1926 led to the construction of today's lighthouse in 1936.
description
The 20.1 m high tower was the last in a long series of lighthouses that were built in Germany from prefabricated steel elements ( tubbings ) from the Isselburger Hütte . The tower carries the overhead light for the southern approach and the guide light for the north-western approach to the Heligoland port facilities.
The lower light is a 10 m high tubular steel mast , about 120 meters south of the lighthouse in the Watt .
Both beacons have already been preserved several times, most recently in June 2007.
