The Tönning Waterways and Shipping Office (WSA Tönning) is a waterways and shipping office in Germany. It belongs to the service area of the General Directorate for Waterways and Shipping , formerly Waterways and Shipping Directorate North .

The Tönning Waterways and Shipping Office is responsible for coastal waters up to the 12-mile zone in the area from the Danish border to the mouth of the Elbe and the inland waterway Eider from Rendsburg to the mouth of the North Sea .

The tasks of the Tönning Waterways and Shipping Office include:

Maintenance and operation of the floating and fixed sea marks (including the lighthouses on the Schleswig-Holstein North Sea coast)

Operation and maintenance of the Eider Barrage

Maintaining the Eider and ensuring an orderly drainage of the Eider

Operation and maintenance of the Lex ferry lock as well as the lock and the weir system in Nordfeld
Maintenance of the shelter and security port of Helgoland , the shelter and security port of Hörnum and the sea mark port of Wittdün .

The suburbs on Amrum , Helgoland as well as the suburbs Tönning and the building yard belong to the Tönning Waterways and Shipping Office .

The suburb of Amrum is responsible for the coastal waters from the Eiderstedt peninsula to the Danish border. He operates and maintains the safety and security port of Hörnum and the sea mark port of Wittdün.
The outskirts of Helgoland are responsible for the sea waterways around Helgoland, the Helgoland protective and security harbor and the island base protection (Kringel, southwest protective wall and island dam north)
The suburb of Tönning is responsible for the coastal waters from Friedrichskoog (mouth of the Elbe) to Husum (with the exception of the waters around Helgoland). The Friedrichstadt base , which is responsible for the Eider, belongs to the suburb of Tönning .
The building yard in Tönning is responsible for maintenance and repair work on ships and navigation marks of the Tönning Waterways and Shipping Office. He has his own pier on the Eider.
