The Waterways and Shipping Office Schweinfurt (WSA Schweinfurt) is a waterways and shipping office in Germany. It belongs to the service area of the General Directorate for Waterways and Shipping , formerly the Waterways and Shipping Directorate South .
Jurisdiction
The Schweinfurt Waterways and Shipping Office makes the Main Federal Waterway available to inland shipping . Regionally, the WSA Schweinfurt is the responsible representative of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) for over 200 kilometers in the area from Rothenfels to Viereth . The more than 370 employees are spread over four outskirts ( Gemünden , Marktbreit , Volkach , Haßfurt ) with 19 locks, the Würzburg building yard and the Schweinfurt office with its three subject areas.
The legal basis
According to Article 89, Paragraph 1 of the Basic Law , the Federal Republic of Germany is the owner of the federal waterways, which it manages through its own authorities - the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration. The activities of the administration are based on the Federal Waterways Act , the Inland Shipping Tasks Act and the Maritime Tasks Act .
