The Waterways and Shipping Office Nuremberg (WSA Nürnberg) was a waterways and shipping office in Germany. It belonged to the service area of the General Directorate for Waterways and Shipping , formerly the Waterways and Shipping Directorate South .
By merging the waterways and shipping authorities in Nuremberg and Regensburg , it was merged into the new waterways and shipping authority Donau MDK on May 2, 2019 .
Jurisdiction
The Nuremberg Waterways and Shipping Office was responsible for the Main-Danube Canal .
tasks
The tasks of the Waterways and Shipping Office in Nuremberg included:
- Maintenance of federal waterways in the official area
- Operation and maintenance of structures such as B. Locks and bridges
- Extension and new construction

- Measurement of water levels
- Takeover of electricity and shipping police tasks.
Outskirts
The outskirts in Neuses , Nuremberg , Hilpoltstein and Riedenburg as well as the Nuremberg building yard were subordinated to the new WSA Donau MDK.
The Gösselthalmühle operations center, which was responsible for the water management of the canal, for which water can be drawn from the Altmühl and Danube via a total of five pumping stations, is the responsibility of the outskirts of Riedenburg.
The Gösselthal district headquarters has also been housed in the Gösselthalmühle building since 2012 and is responsible for over 700 km of waterways with the Main-Danube Canal and the rivers Main (above Hanau ) and Danube (near Passau ).
Control centers
The control centers in Neuses , Kriegenbrunn , Hilpoltstein and Dietfurt belonged to the Nuremberg Waterways and Shipping Office . From there, four locks were remotely controlled and looked after at the same time.
