The Waterways and Shipping Office Rheine (WSA Rheine) is a waterways and shipping office in Germany. It belongs to the service area of ​​the General Directorate for Waterways and Shipping , formerly the Waterways and Shipping Directorate West .

The Rheine Waterways and Shipping Office is responsible for the federal waterways Ems to Gleesen , the Dortmund-Ems Canal from the Ems to the confluence of the Wesel-Datteln Canal and for the Datteln-Hamm Canal .

The tasks of the Waterways and Shipping Office Rheine include:

• Maintenance of federal waterways in the official area
• Operation and maintenance of structures, e.g. B. locks , weirs and bridges
• Extension and new construction
• Maintenance and operation of the navigation signs
• Measurement of water levels
• Takeover of electricity and shipping police tasks.

The outskirts of Hamm , Lüdinghausen , Münster , Altenrheine, Rheine and the Bergeshövede building yard belong to the Rheine Waterways and Shipping Office .

• The Hamm suburb is responsible for the Datteln-Hamm Canal from the connection to the Dortmund-Ems Canal to Hamm.
• The suburb of Lüdinghausen is responsible for the Dortmund-Ems Canal from km 21.5 (connecting the Wesel-Datteln Canal) to km 51.0.
• The Münster suburb is responsible for the Dortmund-Ems Canal from km 51.0 to km 92.5.
• The Altenrheine outskirts are responsible for the Dortmund-Ems Canal from km 92.5 to km 138.3.
• The outskirts of Rheine are responsible for the Ems from Rheine (km 44.75) to Gleesen (km 82.65).
• The Bergeshövede building yard is responsible for maintenance and repair work on ships and facilities belonging to the Rheine Waterways and Shipping Office.

Control center

The Bergeshövede control center was put into operation on the site of the building yard in December 2011. The Bevergern , Rodde , Altenrheine , Venhaus , Hesselte and Gleesen locks are operated and monitored by the control center via a remote control network.
