Levinus Monson

Levinus Monson (born May 5, 1792 in Hamden , Connecticut , † September 23, 1859 in Hobart , New York ) was an American lawyer .

Life

Levinus Monson was born in Hamden , Connecticut, United States in May 1792 . His father was Joshua Munson. In 1811, Monson began with Samuel Sherwood his studies in law at Yale University in Connecticut. After graduating, he moved to Hobart, New York State. He lived there until his death , with one small exception, where he moved to Newbourgh . For most of his life he was a judge on the New York Court of Common Pleas . After the death of Judge Morehouse of Cooperstown in 1850, Monson became a judge on the New York Supreme Court . Levinus Monson died in Hobart in September 1859.
