history

In 1363 Butschuns was mentioned in a document. From 1921 to 1923 a church was built according to the plans of the architect Clemens Holzmeister , which was elevated to a parish church in 1932. The church was restored in 1971/1972.

architecture

The church is a rectangular building with two transept-like extensions and a choir with a three-eighth end. The slightly recessed façade tower on the western gable front shows two rows with pointed arched openings on the upper floor and carries a pyramid roof. The gently sloping terrain was built in front of the west facade with a staircase and a masonry sign . There are strong retaining walls on the side of the nave. To the north of the church there is a cemetery.

The three-axis entrance hall under the tower has a flat ceiling. Lateral pointed arcades lead to the confessional room and the staircase to the gallery. The three-bay nave has a pointed vault with two belt arches and has three crown-shaped windows in the north and two crown-shaped windows in the south. After the retracted pointed triumphal arch is the retracted polygonal choir. To the south in the middle yoke of the nave with a pointed arch arcade is a pointed arched chapel.

The glass paintings of the Tyrolean Glasmalereianstalt show Alphons in the choir on the left, Augustine on the right, Anna with Maria, Michael in the nave on the left, Andreas on the right, and Cecilia on the west facade above the gallery.

Furnishing

The crucifix in the choir was made by A. Crepaz . The pulpit shows the paintings of Moses, Christ and John the Baptist. The stations of the cross were made by Ludwig Sturm (1929). The altar in the side chapel shows the baptism of Christ as a relief, the tabernacle a relief of the Lamb of God . The antependium shows two deer at the spring and a crucifix with Maria Magdalena , created by the sculptor Johann Georg Bachmann .

The original organ was built by Albert Mayer (1926). On November 15, 1998, a new organ from the manufactory of Christoph Enzenhofer was consecrated.

War memorial

The war memorial with a Pietà was created by the sculptor Alois Reich (1934).
