Lev Lvovich Potjomkin

Lev Lvovich Potemkin ( Russian Лев Львович Потёмкин * 26. March 1905 in Moscow , Russian Empire ; † 2. March 1989 ibid, RSFSR , USSR ) was a Soviet theater - and film - actor .

Life and accomplishments

Potjomkin appeared in several Moscow theaters from 1922 and was active as an operetta performer from 1950 . Under the direction of Grigori Markowitsch Jaron (1893–1963) he gave roles in well-known works such as The Merry Widow , Ball in the Savoy and The Circus Princess . After Jaron's death, Potjomkin ended his operetta career in 1964, but in addition to his film work, he was particularly remembered for his work in music theater.

Potjomkin's film career spanning 40 works began in the late 1930s. He became known in particular as a supporting actor in various fairy tale films by Alexander Rous and was also involved in the scripts for The Deer with the Golden Antlers and Finist - Heller Falke as a co-author . He also worked in literary adaptations such as Timur and his Trupp and The Fate of the Drummer or the biographical works Salawat Julajew and Jakow Sverdlov , but did not appear in the latter in the credits .

Lev Potjomkin was the recipient of the "Victory over Germany" medal . He was married to Nina Mikhailovna Sytina.
