Li Hongzhong

Li Hongzhong ( Chinese  李鸿忠 ; * 1956 in Changle , Shandong Province ) is a politician in the People's Republic of China . He was the governor of Hubei Province from 2008 to 2016 . On 13 September 2016 he was appointed party secretary of Tianjin appointed.

Li joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1976 and received his PhD from the Department of History at Jilin University . He started his career in Shenyang Township . He then moved to Huizhou , where he was appointed vice mayor and later mayor. He later became mayor of Shenzhen . He also held leading positions in the party: as secretary of the Shenzhen Party Association and as a deputy member of the 16th Party Congress . Li was an alternate member of the 17th Congress, a member of the 18th Congress, and has been a member of the 19th Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party since October .
