The Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong ( Chinese  香港 李寶椿 聯合 世界 書院 ), (LPCUWC for short) is one of the 16 United World Colleges , a group of schools that teach tolerance and social responsibility through international education and social engagement.

The boarding school was opened in 1992 by Sir David Wilson. It is located in the New Territories in Hong Kong , close to the Ma On Shan Nature Park. The campus consists of an academic building, the canteen, the sports fields, the gym and 4 boarding houses in which around 256 students from different countries live and study together with the teachers and their families.

The intensive social services and a wide range of creative, sporting and cultural working groups are an integral part of life at the LPCUWC. Another focus is the diversity lived at the college: since it was founded in 1992, students from over 118 countries have lived together here, selected exclusively on the basis of academic and personal talents. A large part of the student body is supported by partial or full scholarships.

admission

The school accepts students from around 80 nations and many local schools. The ratio is 40% locals and 60% students from other nations. While the "overseas" students are selected by national committees, Hong Kong students are selected through three rounds of exams from the Home Affairs Bureau.

classes

The college uses its location as a meeting place between East and West. It offers Chinese courses of different levels. There was also a course in Chinese Studies and a course in Chinese history and culture. In recent years, the students have achieved one of the highest scores in the world with an average of 38 points in the IB results. In 2007, 5 students achieved the perfect result of 45 points.

In late 2007, LPC College was one of only two non-American high schools in the Wall Street Journal's list of 50 schools, ranked by the number of students accepted from an Ivy League university after graduation .

Students complete a two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma program at the college . The student takes three advanced courses (higher level), three basic courses (standard level) and the "theory of knowledge" course. The courses offered can be divided into six groups:
