Li Tieying

Li Tieying (* 1936 in Changsha , Hunan ) is a Chinese politician of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), who was vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress from 2003 to 2008 .

Life

Li Tieying joined the CCP in 1955 after attending Second Middle School in Beijing, and then studied physics in Czechoslovakia from 1955 to 1961 . After his return he did his military service in the People's Liberation Army in 1961 . He then worked as a technician and deputy head of department at the No. 13 Research Institute of the Ministry of National Defense, and during that time from 1964 to 1965 he also studied Japanese at the Institute of Foreign Languages ​​in Shanghai . From 1966 to 1970 he was deputy head of department in Research Institute No. 1413 of the Fourth Engineering Ministry, before he was department head in Research Institute No. 1424 of this Ministry from 1970 to 1978.

In the years that followed, he was vice director of the Liaoning Province Science and Technology Committee , vice director of the Research Institute and chief engineer of the Ministry of Electrical Industry. In 1978 he was awarded the National Science Conference Prize for his services.

In 1981, he was appointed secretary of the CCP City Committee in Shenyang , capital of Liaoning Province. He held this office until 1983, and was then secretary of the Liaoning CCP Provincial Committee from 1983 to 1985. In 1985 he became a candidate for the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP Central Committee ) and was also Minister of Electrical Industry from 1985 to 1987.

Li Tieying was elected a member of the CCP Central Committee at the 13th CCP Congress and served until the 16th Congress in 2002. At the same time he was a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China during this time .

Between 1987 and 1988 he was Minister and Chairman of the State Commission for Economic Restructuring and Secretary of the Party Committee in the Ministry of Electrical Industry. He then became director of the State Education Commission in 1988 and held this position until 1993. At the same time, he was a member of the State Council from 1988 to 1998 .

After temporarily head of the State Leadership Group for Housing Reform in 1991, he was again Minister and Chairman of the State Commission for Economic Restructuring between 1993 and 1998. In 1997 he also became Honorary President of the Mao Zedong Academy of Arts , before he was President of the Academy of Social Sciences between 1998 and 2003 .

Most recently, Li Tieying was the vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress from 2003 to 2008.
