Chinese Academy of Social Sciences
The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences ( Chinese 中國社會科學院 / 中国社会科学院 , Pinyin Zhōngguó Shèhuì Kēxuéyuàn; English Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, abbr .: CASS ) is the National Academy of the People's Republic of China for the social sciences . It is based in Beijing. It is an institution of the State Council of the People's Republic of China . It was founded in May 1977 and emerged from the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences . The current president is Professor Chen Kuiyuan .
