The Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China ( Simplified Chinese 中华人民共和国 商务部 , trad.chin .: 中華人民共和國 商務部 ) - also known as MOFCOM ( Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of the People's Republic of China from the English Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Co -operation or today: Ministry of Commerce ) - is a ministry of the government of the People's Republic of China .

The office is in Beijing .

In 2003, the Ministry of Commerce merged the previously existing Ministry for Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) with the State Economic and Trade Commission and the Commission for State Development Planning
