Club career

Liam Lawrence played for his youth club Mansfield Town between 1999 and 2004 in over 100 league games in the third and fourth English leagues. In the 2006/07 season, the midfielder was first loaned to Stoke City , which then committed him to the winter break of that season. Lawrence quickly took on an important role in the team and at the end of the 2007/08 season was instrumental in the first-time promotion of Stoke City to the Premier League. He was also voted Player of the Year in the squad.

On September 11, 2010 he moved to Portsmouth FC on loan . On January 1, 2011, he moved to Portsmouth on a permanent contract basis and signed for 3½ years.

Between 2012 and 2014 he played for the Greek first division club PAOK Saloniki . In the 2012/13 season he reached second place in the table with his team.
