Liard Highway

The Liard Highway is the only paved link between British Columbia and the Northwest Territories . This highway is called Highway 77 in British Columbia and Highway 7 in the Northwest Territories .

The Liard Highway was completed in 1984 and was named Highway 77 in 1986 . The road begins on the Alaska Highway about 28 kilometers from Fort Nelson and then runs 138 kilometers northeast of the British Columbia border. From there, the road is named Highway 7 and runs 150 miles through the Northwest Territories and ends at a junction with the Mackenzie Highway south of Fort Simpson .
