Region :

The Highway 6 , mostly as Fort Resolution Highway referred to is a highway in the Canadian Northwest Territories .

It branches off the Fort Smith Highway and leads along the shores of the Great Slave Lake to Fort Resolution .

About 21 kilometers east of Fort Smith highways is Pine Point , located near a former lead - and zinc - mine is located. The community was one of the largest in the Northwest Territories, so its residents had very little reason to go to Hay River because of the dense supply at Pine Point. The mine closed in 1987 and the last resident left Pine Point in 1988.
