Liberia is located in the northwest of the Central American state of Costa Rica and is the capital of the Guanacaste Province . About 67,463 inhabitants live in the city's canton. In addition to Alajuela , Liberia has the second international airport in Costa Rica, Daniel Oduber International Airport . It offers flights to Dallas , Houston , Atlanta , Miami and Charlotte and has direct flights from New York (JFK). The Rincón de la Vieja National Park is also close to Liberia .
Fiestas Civicas
Every year in February the Fiestas Civicas take place in Liberia, during which, among other things, an equestrian parade, bull rides, theater performances and dance events take place.
