Palm Coast is a city in Flagler County in the US state of Florida with 75,180 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Palm Coast is located on the Intracoastal Waterway close to the coast of the Atlantic . The city borders the city of Bunnell to the west and is approximately 60 km south of Jacksonville .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 75,180 inhabitants were distributed over 35,058 households. The population density was 572.1 inh / km². 79.9% of the population identified themselves as whites , 12.7% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 2.5% as Asian Americans . 2.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.5% to several ethnic groups. 10.0% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 39.7% of all households lived in 29.2% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 73.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.51 people and the average family size was 2.88 people.

23.6% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 20.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 25.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 30.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 45 years. 47.8% of the population were male and 52.2% were female.

The median annual income was $ 48,594, with 13.7% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 87.66% of the population, 6.48% spoke Spanish and 5.86% had another mother tongue.

Attractions

The Mala Compra Plantation Archeological Site and the Washington Oaks Historic District are listed on the National Register of Historic Places .

traffic

The urban area is crossed by Interstate 95 , US Highway 1 ( SR 5 ) and Florida State Road 100 . The Florida East Coast Railway's freight line also touches the city. The nearest airport is Daytona Beach International Airport (around 35 km south).
