Libkovice (German Liquitz , formerly Lubcouiz, Lubcowitz, Luczkowicz, Lucwicz, Likwjcze ) is a district of Mariánské Radčice in Okres Most , Czech Republic . Libkovice lies on the brook Lomský potok (Brüchnergrundbach) in the north-eastern part of the Okres Most.

history

Libkovice / Liquitz around 1900
Church of St. Michael 1998 before the demolition

The place was first mentioned in 1186 in the deed of donation from Prince Friedrich , in which he confirmed the donation of the village to the hospital of St. John of Jerusalem. In 1240 Slavko, abbot of the monastery in Ossegg , acquired part of the village from his relative Wenzel von Hrabischitz . The community remained in the ownership of the monastery until the land reform in 1848.

In the middle of the 18th century 45 farmers, a weaver, a shoemaker and 2 millers lived in the village with their families. In 1833 the community had 321 inhabitants, whose number rose to 2,314 people in 1930 due to the boom in mining. Most of the people were employed in the Kaisergrube near Maria Ratschitz, which opened in 1884, and the Johann I mine in Lom, which opened in 1899. At the beginning of the 20th century, new earning opportunities also arose in the brickworks, the Epiag ceramic factory, the Lidrusk glass factory and the Liquitzer ceramic works.

The pseudo-renaissance church of St. Michael, built on the foundations of the 14th century parish church, has also been demolished. The Column of the Most Holy Trinity (1739) was moved to Horní Litvínov ( Oberleutensdorf ), the Chapel of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary to Vtelno ( Wteln ).

The remains were incorporated into Mariánské Radčice ( Maria Ratschitz ). The actual village was liquidated at the beginning of the 1990s due to the expansion of the coal mining of the Dolni Hlubina shaft. In 1991 the place had 257 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of a house in which 3 people lived. The announced lignite mining did not come about until 2012.
